The Sipesville Volunteer Fire Company promotes fire prevention in the surrounding community in many different ways.  One such method is by conducting fire drills at the Sipesville Elementary School, and presenting a fire prevention assembly for the students every year during Fire Prevention Week.

Sipesville Elementary students pose for a picture during Fire Prevention Week.
Deputy Chief Dan Carr gives students a tour of the engine and its equipment.
Asst. Chief Nick Kovach conducts a demonstration on the "Jaws of Life."
During the assembly firefighters stress topics such as the importance of testing smoke detectors in the home, planning escape routes out of the house, dialing 911 in case of emergency, and not playing with matches or lighters.  In addition students are taught how to stop, drop, and roll if their clothes would catch fire.
In addition to discussing the importance of fire safety, we usually have a firefighter don full turnout gear and an SCBA to teach children not to hide or be afraid of firefighters.  Afterwards the students are given a tour of the fire apparatus.  We would like to thank the teachers and staff of the school for their cooperation with the fire prevention programs at the school.
Jr. Firefighter Brett Stanga shows a student how to use a fire extinguisher during a fire prevention program.
In addition to working with the school, the fire company has a detailed preplan system for all commercial structures and businesses in Lincoln Township.  The fire company has also sponsored fire extinguisher classes open to community members in the past.
We would  be happy to present a fire prevention programs to persons both young and old.  If you would like a firefighter to speak to your youth group, cub scout pack, senior citizens organization, church, or other group, please contact Sipesville Fire Chief Jim Shroyer or call the fire station at (814)445-4899 and leave your name and number on the answering machine.
