December 20, 2007
Around 10:35 hrs Somerset stations 610, 619, 621, 631, 605, 607, 640 (EMS)  and Cambria stations 20, 23, 24, and 27 were dispatched for a possible structure fire on Country Club Road in Conemaugh Township.  Station 607 was on the first alarm for a RIT assignment, and this was the first such activation since the alarm card was changed earlier this year.  Patrol arrived on scene and advised heavy smoke from a working fire at the residence.  Engine 607-4 (Forry) responded par four to the scene.  Upon arrival, 601 IC requested that the engine crew assist with interior attack and overhaul operations due to the overall lack of manpower.  Firefighters from Sipesville entered the structure from the Alpha side on Division 2.  At this point most of the fire was knocked down, but there were still hot spots and hidden fire in the ceiling.  Crews worked to douse the remaining fire and perform overhaul operations.  Crews operated at the scene for approximately 3 hours before being released.  The occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the fire, the cause of which was not deemed suspicious.
