At 07:15 hrs Station 607 and 900 EMS were dispatched for an MVA
with injuries, involving one van rolled over in the woods. Engine 607-4
(Carr) responded and were updated that there were two people outside of the van
and that it was sitting upright off the roadway. While responding updates
took the number of patients from 5 to 11. Responding 900 units requested
a Stage 1 MCI activation, thus adding ambulances from Stations 902, 500, 605,
606, and 623. Once crews arrived on scene they began triage and extrication
of all the patients, most of which were children. Hydraulic rescue tools
were deployed to gain access to the front seat passenger who was confined
within the vehicle. Only three patients sustained injuries, but all were
tranported to a local hospital. All available EMS units from Station 900
and 902, along with one ALS unit from Station 500 made it to the scene to assist
with the accident. Other responding units from 606 and 605 were staged
at the interchange and later released. All units returned in service within
an hour. |
