December 6, 2005 |
At 12:38 hrs on the afternoon of December 6, Stations 608, 605,
606, and 607 were dispatched for a structure fire at 132 3rd Street in Acosta.
Engine 608-1 was out of service due to mechanical service, therefore Engine
607-4 was the first engine to arrive on scene. The engine crew hit a
plug on main street and laid approximately 400' of 5" supply line into the scene
and then fed tanker 608-2. Upon arrival at the scene crews found heavy
smoke and flames coming from division two, corner A/D of the house. The
crew from Engine 607-4 made the first interior attack, followed by crews from 608
and 605. Tanker 607-2 arrived on scene and was advised to stage on Baroni
Ave. behind Engine 606-1. Engine 605-1 had laid 5' from Baroni Ave. into
the scene from the east end of 3rd Street. The crew from 607-2 connected
the 5' supply line into the tanker and prepared to feed Boswell's engine if
needed. 608 Chief had incident command and requested that one engine from
Station 601 be dispatched for standby at the scene. Crews made a quick
knock on the fire and then checked the attic for any additional hotspots above
the fire room. Salvage and overhaul was completed and most units were back
in service within two hours. A special thanks goes out to 608 Deputy Chief
for sharing these photos! |
