December 5, 2006
At 19:53 hours on Tuesday evening, December 5,  Stations 607 and 900 were dispatched for a two-vehicle accident on Somerset Pike just north of Sipesville.  607 Chief responded to establish command and provided an updated location of the crash at the intersection of Bakersville-Edie Rd.  Rescue/Engine 607-4 (J. Shroyer) responded shortly thereafter to handle the assignment.  Crews found a van and a small truck involved in a T-bone type collision.  The truck, which had severe frontal damage, had struck the van then traveled off the roadway until striking a tree.  The van had significant damage to the front driver's side fender and door.  One patient with minor injuries was still confined in the van, so crews initiated care and stabilized the vehicle until Medic 957 arrived on scene.  The patient was then immobilized and extricated through the front passenger's side door.  Three other patients from both vehicles were evaluated by EMS and released on scene.  Both vehicles were secured and removed within 45 minutes, before crews returned available.
