Station 607 was sent to Fairhope for a special detail assisting the Department of Conservation of Natural Resources (DCNR) and the Bureau of Forestry.  A large forest fire had fire crews tied up for nearly two weeks during a dry spell, and firefighters from Station 607 were called upon to work at the fire so that other crews could be relieved.  Engine 607-1 and Squad 607-5 responded with a crew of 6 persons and spent 10 hours working at the scene.  The crew from the Squad monitored a break line and watched for hot spots, while the Engine was staged with a crew from Windber on the front line to supply water if needed.  Below are pictures of the 607 apparatus and a view of the mountainside from the access road leading to the fire.
