September 26, 2006
On the evening of September 26, a meeting at station 601 was interupted when a passer-by reported an oil spill accross from the fire station.  601 Chief went to investigate and reported a large quantity (200-300 gal) of oil running out of a 1000 gallon oil tank that appeared to be tampered with.  Borough PD was summoned to the scene along with Team 601.  Due to the spread of the spill and the massive quantity of oil, 601 Chief requested additional resources from Berlin and Sipesville.  Squad 607-5 (Forry) with the HazMat trailer and Engine 607-4 (Shroyer) responded with a total of 5 operations level personnel.  Crews from 607 setup on West Main St. and assisted in containing the spill through the use of absorbant pads and by spreading modified.  The light tower on Engine 4 was utilized to illuminate the area, and the numerous supplies were used from the HazMat trailer.  Crews were on scene approximately 3 hours before being released by DEP officials.  This marks the second run of the year for the Sipesville HazMat trailer.
