September 21, 2006
On the afternoon of September 21, stations 607, 601, 608, 606, 603, 604, and 900 were activated for a structure fire at 7163 Penn Ave., Lincoln Township.  The first unit to arrive on scene, Medic 952, reported heavy smoke showing from the structure.  Engine 607-4 (Carr) and Tanker 608-2 were the first fire units on scene and found fire showing from division 2 on the Charlie Delta side of the structure.  Tanker 607-3 (Eppley) also responded from station 607.  Firefighters from 608 and 601 made a quick interior attack, while an exterior attack was coordinated on side Charlie.  A quick knockdown of the fire was achieved and fire damage was contained to division 2 of the residence.  Engine 606-1 filled the RIT assignment on the alarm, while 603 and 604 assisted with tankers. The PSP State Fire Marshal determined the blaze accidental, and originating from a fire in the flue.  Despite the short staffing that affected all departments, everyone worked well together in extinguishing the fire as quickly as possible.  All units were placed back on the air after approximately 90 minutes.
