August 25, 2006 |
On August 25, at 04:52 hours, Stations 605, 606, 608, and 631
were dispatched for a possible structure fire at Total Recycling off of Route 601.
Engine 631-1 advised of an orange glow in the sky and heavy fire upon
approach to the scene. 605 Chief requested a second alarm be struck for
tankers to assist at the scene. The second alarm included Stations 604, 607,
and 614. Tanker 607-2 (Lottig/S. Kovach) was requested on the alarm card
and responded to the scene. Due to tankers from 604 and 608 being out of service,
Tanker 607-3 (N. Kovach/ Forry) was also sent per the request of 605 IC.
The tanker task force found heavy fire upon arrival at the scene and became
part of the tanker shuttle feeding Engine 606-1 at the dump site. Engine
604-1 and 621-2 established a fill site at a pond across from Guardian Rd.
on Route 601. A special call for Tower 3-1 from Richland was made, and brought
Car 3-1, Car 3-2, and Tower 3-1 to the scene. Throughout the incident
the 607 tankers hauled an estimated 35,000 gallons of water. Tanker 3
was released from the scene around 10:00 hrs, and Tanker 2 was released around
12:00 hrs. 605 chief had incident command, and all units worked well together
at the scene. |
