April 6, 2004
On April 6, at approximately 1605  hrs, we were dispatched for a vehicle accident with injuries on Somerset Pike at the entrance to the Sipesville Church of the Brethren.  Crews arrived on scene to find two cars and a compact pickup truck involved in the accident.  Two elderly occpants of the silver car, and the male driver of the pickup were self extricated.  The female driver and a child in a car seat were still inside the red Chevrolet.  Firefighters used the Holmatro combi tool to gain access to the driver's side door Nader pin and cut the pin with a reciprocating saw to gain access to the patients.  The driver was extricated and transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  The child in the rear seat was uninjured.  The Acosta Fire Department assisted with traffic control, and Somerset Area Ambulance provided EMS on scene.  The Pennsylvania State Police handled the investigation.
