February 19, 2005
On the morning of February 19, Station 607 was dispatched to assist Station 601 with a structure fire at Bishop's Mobile Home Park along Husband Road in Somerset Township.  Reports from Command 601-9 indicated heavy smoke in the area, which was the result of a working mobile home fire.  Tanker 607-2 responded to the scene, followed closely behind by Engine 607-4 with a full crew of firefighters.  Station 601 made a quick knockdown on the fire and 607 crews were used for additional ventilation and overhaul operations.  While it was a beautiful morning in Somerset County, the temperatures were flirting in the sub zero range with the wind chill.  One firefighter sustained minor injuries when he slipped on the ice, but was treated and released at the scene.  The occupants of the residence were not home at the time of the blaze, which was thought to have been started by malfunctioning heat tape placed on water lines under the trailer.  All units returned in service within two hours.
