On February 17, at 14:18 hours, Station 607 was dispatched with
stations 608, 601, and 900 for bells ringing at Precision Millwork, 731 East
Bakersville-Edie Road. Immediately following the AFA dispatch, station 607
was toned out again for a vehicle accident on Penn Ave. behind the BP gas station.
607 Chief responded to the first alarm and reported nothing showing
from the exterior. 607 Training Officer responded to the scene of the reported
accident, but was unable to locate any vehicle. 607 Chief cancelled
Engine 601-1 on the fire alarm, and advised all 608 units to hold their positions.
Rescue/Engine 607-4 (Carr) responded on the first incident and then
diverted to the MVA. Medic 957 arrived on scene at the MVA and aided 607
TO in a more detailed search of the area. It was discovered that the vehicle
involved in the accident had run into a culvert, but had left the scene prior
to arrival of fire personel. All units from 607, 608, and 900 were released
from both calls and returned in service without incident. |
